EIFS & Dryvit repair in Calgary
Foam-backed acrylic stucco (EIFS, often called Dryvit) dents, cracks and gets pecked. When water gets behind it, it's a different repair from cement stucco. We repair EIFS the way the system is designed to be repaired.
EIFS is not regular stucco, and repairs have to respect that
EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) is foam insulation board covered with a reinforced base coat and an acrylic finish. It's common on newer Calgary homes, townhouse complexes and commercial buildings. It insulates well, but the surface is thin and soft: hail, ladders, balls and woodpeckers can punch right through it.
The bigger risk is water. Older barrier-type EIFS has no drainage plane, so water that gets in at a failed sealant joint or window corner stays trapped against the sheathing. A repair that only patches the surface can hide rot that keeps spreading underneath.
We cut out damaged areas cleanly, check the sheathing behind, replace foam, embed new mesh with proper overlaps, and finish with a matched acrylic texture. We also replace failed sealant joints around windows, doors and penetrations, where most EIFS leaks start.

What does EIFS repair cost in Calgary?
Small impact or woodpecker repairs are usually quick jobs. Repairs involving wet sheathing, failed windows or large sections take longer and cost more. The biggest variable is what's behind the surface, which is why we don't price EIFS water damage sight-unseen.
You get a free flat-rate quote for visible damage. If a wall needs moisture probing to find out how far damage goes, we tell you the diagnostic cost before we do it.

EIFS & Dryvit Repair questions
What's the difference between EIFS and stucco?
Traditional stucco is a thick cement-based coating over lath. EIFS is foam insulation board with a thin reinforced base coat and an acrylic finish. It looks similar but repairs differently, and EIFS is softer and easier to damage.
Is Dryvit the same as EIFS?
Dryvit is a brand name for an EIFS system, and many people call any EIFS 'Dryvit.' We repair Dryvit and other EIFS brands.
Can EIFS repairs be made invisible?
We match texture and colour closely. On older, faded walls, finishing the full wall plane or corner-to-corner gives the cleanest look, and we'll tell you when that's worth it.
How do I stop woodpeckers damaging my EIFS?
Repair holes promptly (birds come back to existing ones), consider added reinforcement in repeat areas, and use visual deterrents. We can reinforce the areas that keep getting hit.
Does EIFS water damage always mean replacement?
No. Most water damage is localized around windows or penetrations and can be repaired by opening the area, replacing wet sheathing and rebuilding with better flashing and sealant details.
